Well, based on prior skill updates it shouldn't be too hard to plot a time.

Since they just released a "minor skill update" they'll release another update at minimum 2 months from now.

~Jan

Now we figure in "preparing for wintersday" and the botch up for the finale, so that's another two weeks of of postponement.

Halfway through Jan.

Now we figure in "preparing for CNY," which will take until the end of Jan., if they botch that event up again +1 week.

Then we have a small period which they'll be working on GWB, and that will take them until easter holiday.

~April.

Then half of the team will be sick for two months and not respond to the community until june.

~June

Now we figure in "preparing for Wintersday in july"

~beginning of july.

So, in short, don't expect a comment about a future skill update until the middle of july of 2011.

Well since it took releasing halloween costumes to get enough cash to push a minor GVG skill update, i am gonna say they are going to release an other set of costumes to fuel an other content update.

7 heroes and EB... I would hope within a few months. Kind of pointless to have announced it if not. More prof overhauls like the Dervish... I wouldn't hold my breath those tend to take an extremely long time for some reason. And when they do come out they pigeonhole your whole prof into playing the same build so careful what you wish for.

Agree. I doubt we get a "real update" till wintersday ( they will probably introduce 2 costume with 2-3 quests ) . Then , there will be canthan festival or so + each month GvG mat winners skills nerfed. So , well , i don't really believe we will ever get that update ( or an update such as last year , i.e nicholas + zquests )

Can't you people just be happy with the game as it is. I hate the "OH U PROMISED!" comments, in all fairness if they gave us a release date you would hear this alot more.

It will get here when it gets here, they dropped the idea of what they plan on us not that long ago with the 7 heros and embark beach, do you realise how long it takes to create stuff like this? Its not like these updates are crucial at the moment either...
/end mini rant about ungreatful players

its not that weird that some people are impatient, a big part of the community left, so there's not much compared to 2-3 years ago
and skill updates always are good to some, and bad to others, and should we get that update soon now, then a lot ingame will change

- full hero, so we can enjoy more buils e made in our own teams, and even help people who arent as good, like newbies, but also try new stuff
- embark gives puggers more chance finding the right pugs

then while we wait we can use full hero teams and embark to play the way we want, and wait for another huge update:
- canthan content: will give us much more to do, but i dont need to explain that
- new hero, who knows what'll happen, maybe new quests which get that hero and would be better if we get quests which require that hero
- derv update, which may make dervs more popular and better in general

knowing all this, who can actually wait a long time?

i'm waiting for the full hero update myself just cuz it can kinda replace (not for 100%) the friends who left GW, although i cant chat with heroes, they still can make me being busy making builds and try stuff like fow
and i made a list with stuff i like to use full hero teams for

1 more thing:
the game is a bit boring for me as i cant do everything by myself, and cant do much about builds with 3 heroes, same with my first survivor char, which i wanna achieve by fighting, not something easy like boxing all the time
full hero can make this game much more fun for me, so i have a reason to be impatient, whether people agree or disagree, i cant change it now

all i can say: lets wait for Anet, they may make us happy anytime now
next thing to enjoy is wintersday with new quests, i hope

To be honest I started to see the pattern here:

New team leader takes the position. He then announces this big "visions" of what he's going to do. Whether he can deliver them is another story entirely.

This has happened before with the previous oh-so-unprofession-I-got-sick-so-it's-delayed team lead. So I wouldn't be surprised if the whole Embark Beach and full hero party are just some "visions" that will never come true.

Oh well.

The most common rumor has it that the developers want the dervish update done and released before Christmas. Probably won't see any focused PvP updates in that time either and the chance of content updates before then is pretty low as well.

^this is what I roughly expect. They have been working on the Dervish update for a long time. So it should be almost finished. If they dont have it finished by wintersday, they should just call it quits, release the best of it, and work on the next thing.

As for GW:B content, it sounds like they are working on releasing some content before Wintersday, but I could be taking the interview out of context.

John Stumme: There's going to be a set of costumes coming for the wedding, and they are very, very classy. After seeing Kristen's design for the wedding dress, my fiancé decided that she wanted one nearly identical to it. As for the guys, I think all you need to know is "top hats." With that, I think the single greatest need of the Guild Wars community has at long last been fulfilled. The next costumes we'll be doing after that are for Wintersday. Traditionally, that's a very Dwayna and Grenth affair... but there could be some others getting involved this year.
My guess is that its Gwen and Thackery's wedding. So in between now and wintersday we might see the return of Thackery, a wedding, and foreshadowing of C:WoC. Of course, just because they are working on costumes, doesnt mean they will be released in that order.

And if even if C:WoC content is ready before then, CNY would be a good time to start releasing it, as it would add something to a normally boring repeat festival. And give Anet time to recover from Wintersday.

And given that it has been said C:WoC will last about the same time as WiK(3-4 months), I wouldnt expect Embark Beach and 7 Heroes untill the anniversary event. Although, I would prefer the full hero party to happen before the C:WoC content, so I can use heros for the new content.

Since this wedding is part of gw:b content we should be able to do quests for the costumes.

If game designers worked for free, I would agree with you 100%. The White Mantle and Shining Blade outfits were part of GW:B also. Personally, I think GW has spoiled alot of players into wanting free content. Anet only promised no subscription fee. They never promised they could run a business based on hugs and rainbows. They still have bills, payroll, etc. $30 worth of costumes in 2 months seems a little excessive. Just to put it into perspective, thats about what you would pay for 2 months of just about any other MMO.

But, with 2 costumes possibly being released by Wintersday, there may be a chance one of them is a free in game reward. We will have to wait and see.
